On Wednesday, October 10, 2007, a provincial election will be held in Ontario, giving every citizen an opportunity to select the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for their electoral district (also known as a riding).
Mario G. Racco is currently the MPP for the riding of Thornhill.
All Thornhill and Concord residents of the Town of Markham and the City of Vaughan are eligible to vote, as long as they are 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen.
If you are eligible to vote, you should receive a Notice of Registration card in the mail. This card will advise you of where you should go to vote on October 10. It will also provide the locations of advance polls, allowing you to cast your ballot before October 10th.
Make sure to take your card along with one piece of identification with you when you go to vote.
If you do not receive your Notice of Registration card, you may not be on the Voters List - the official list of all eligible voters. If you are qualified to vote but not on the list, you can:
Obtain a Certificate to Vote by providing proof of your identify and your residence in Thornhill at any advance poll location or at the office of the Returning Officer; or
Have your name added to the Voters' List at your polling place on election day, by providing the appropriate identification.
If, for some reason, you are unable to cast your vote either on election day or in advance, you may want to vote by proxy, appointing another person in the riding to vote on your behalf. If you wish to vote by proxy, you need to fill out an application form (available from an election candidate or the Returning Office operated by Elections Ontario) and follow the instructions.
Voting is at the heart of a democratic society.
We strongly encourage you to exercise
your right and your duty.
Please remember to vote on October 10th !
